I'm an 80s kid.
I was born and grew up in Taumarunui.
So I know semi-rural small town.

I spent my teen life in Papamoa, Bay of Plenty.
So I know the east coast beach life.
I moved to Wellington to go to Drama School.
So I know what a cultural capital feels like.
I moved to Auckland because that's where the work
seemed to be. So I know packing up the truck and
moving to the big smoke.
Kia Ora. My name is Eryn Wilson (Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Manuhiri).
I'm a Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama school Grad.
I have an acting degree.
For a long while I travelled around the country for the sake of the work. Living the actor's life.
Working in all the professional theatres. Screen work when it came along. But there came a time when I wanted to stop travelling. Put down some roots.

And so I moved to Auckland in 1996 and began to cut my teeth as a casting assistant. I still remember that first job. It was with Mike Oldershaw (cheers Mike) who was casting a big Lion Red job at the time, out of Simon Marler's studio. Safe to say the industry was booming. I gained a ton of experience.
It went from a great side hustle, to a rent-payer and back then I assisted across film, tele drama and commercials for most of our industry stalwarts. Working mostly out of the late Glen Jowitt's Prime Road studio in Grey Lynn.
With all this in-studio experience, I got really good at auditioning, for commercials in particular. At last count I'd been in 30+ ads for NZ and International. Hell, my first ever trip to Queenstown was for a Polish beer ad.
Safe to say, I get it. I know how actors need to be. And how client & product dictate the nuance in both tone and performance.
Late 2017, I decided to go out on my own. I haven't looked back.
Casting still sits alongside my acting and directing. I see that as a strength. A point of difference.
I've made a feature length documentary that played to sell out audiences in the New Zealand International Film Festival. I've also written and directed a New Zealand Film Commission funded short. My feature is next. Watch this space.
I pride myself in knowing first hand what the audition experience feels like, so I work hardest on putting actors at ease. It yields a different kind of result. Directors appreciate it.
I have a team. All industry professionals. We scale up. We scale down. As the job requires.
Get in touch any time.
I look forward to working with you.
Cheers.
